Family Law

Khula, divorce, custody, guardianship, maintenance and dowry claims before the Family Courts of Karachi and Sukkur, conducted with discretion.

Family disputes are the most personal matters a court decides, and the most expensive to get wrong. A khula suit pleaded badly, a custody application moved in the wrong forum, or a maintenance claim filed without the right documents can cost months and, in custody, time with a child that cannot be given back.

Naich Law Chambers acts for wives, husbands, parents and grandparents before the Family Courts in Karachi and Sukkur and in appeal before the High Court of Sindh. Every matter is handled in confidence, and the advocate who takes your instructions is the one who appears for you.

What we handle

  • Suits for dissolution of marriage by khula
  • Divorce, talaq notices and the reconciliation process before the Union Council
  • Custody of children and guardianship applications
  • Visitation and meeting arrangements for the non-custodial parent
  • Maintenance for wives and children, including arrears
  • Recovery of haq mehr and dowry articles
  • Restitution of conjugal rights
  • Family property and inheritance disputes among relatives
  • Appeals and constitutional petitions arising from Family Court decrees

How a matter proceeds

  1. 01

    Confidential consultation

We hear the full position in private, read the nikahnama and any papers, and tell you plainly what the law allows and how long it is likely to take.

  2. 02

    Notice and settlement

Where a negotiated settlement on custody, maintenance or dowry is realistic, we try it first. Many family matters end here.

  3. 03

    Filing and interim orders

The suit is filed in the correct Family Court, together with any interim application for maintenance or for meeting a child while the case runs.

  4. 04

    Pre-trial reconciliation and trial

The Family Court must attempt reconciliation before trial. Where it fails, evidence is recorded and we prepare you for every appearance.

  5. 05

    Decree, execution or appeal

A decree for maintenance or dowry is executed through the same court. An adverse decree is examined at once for appeal before the High Court of Sindh.

Family Law: common questions

How long does a khula case take in Karachi?

It depends on whether the husband contests it and how often hearings are adjourned. An uncontested khula can be decided within months. We give you a realistic range at the first meeting.

Who gets custody of the children?

The court decides on the welfare of the child, not on who files first. Age, schooling, who has cared for the child and the circumstances of each parent all matter. The parent without custody is usually allowed to meet the child.

Is my matter kept confidential?

Yes. Family matters are discussed with the advocate handling them and no one else, and we never contact the other side without your instruction.
