How we work
What the chambers holds itself to.
The work of these chambers is governed by standards that do not vary with the client or the forum. They are how the practice measures itself.

Command of the record
Matters are built from certified copies and the original record, not from a client's file of photocopies. A case that rests on documents is won by the party that knows them best.

Decisive at the outset
Interim injunctions, pre arrest bail, a properly served notice, a deposit of rent with the Controller. In Pakistani litigation the first fortnight frequently settles the next two years, and the chambers moves in it.

Counsel, not correspondence
The advocate who prepares your matter is the advocate who argues it. Nothing is briefed out on the morning of the hearing, and nothing is conducted by a clerk.

Clients are kept informed
Every date, order and adjournment is reported with its consequence for the case. No client of these chambers should have to ask what happened in court.

Instruction and assessment
The papers are read in full before any view is expressed. You then receive a considered assessment of merits, of the correct forum, and of the cost and time the matter will take.

Strategy and notice
The route is settled: suit, application, complaint, reference or arbitration. Where a properly drafted legal notice will close the matter without litigation, that course is taken first.

Filing and interim relief
The case is instituted in the correct forum together with the interim application it requires, whether a stay, an injunction, bail, or a direction for the deposit of rent.

Trial and hearing
Issues are framed, evidence is led and witnesses are cross examined. Clients are prepared personally for every date on which they must appear.

Judgment, execution or appeal
A decree is carried through into execution, because an unexecuted decree is of no use to anyone. An adverse order is examined at once for appeal, revision or constitutional petition.
Common questions
How do I instruct the chambers?
Telephone either office, or send a short account of the matter through the enquiry form. An appointment will be arranged at Karachi or Sukkur, or by telephone where you are outside the province. Please bring the complete file, including any document you consider unhelpful.
What are the fees?
The fee depends on the forum, the complexity of the matter and the number of hearings it is likely to require. The basis of the professional fee is confirmed in writing before work begins, and court fees, stamp duty and process costs are stated separately. No charge is raised that has not first been agreed.
Which courts does the chambers appear in?
The High Court of Sindh at Karachi and at the Sukkur Bench, the District and Sessions Courts throughout Sindh, the revenue authorities and the Board of Revenue, and the Banking Courts and Special Courts as a matter requires.
Can the chambers act for me while I am abroad?
Yes. Overseas clients are represented under a special power of attorney, properly executed and attested at the Pakistani mission in your country. The chambers drafts the instrument and guides you through attestation, and reports to you after every hearing.
How long will my case take?
A bail application may be decided within days. A rent matter is measured in months. A contested title suit may run for years. You are given a realistic range at the outset and are told immediately if it changes.
Does the chambers take urgent criminal matters?
Yes. Arrest and FIR matters are time critical and are treated as such. Where arrest is a live prospect the correct first step is ordinarily an application for pre arrest bail. Contact the chambers before attending the police station.
